New publications of our project first year results

On 23 January, 2014, Assoc Prof. Dr. Zlatogor Minchev and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luben Boyanov (our project team leader) made a joint publication about “Smart Homes Cyberthreats Identification Based on Interactive Training”  outlining DFNI T01/4 project methodological framework and most of the first year key results. The publication is part of the proceedings from ICAICTSEE – 2013 event, successfully organized in December, 2013 from the University of National & World Economy - Sofia under the auspices of IFIP.

   


New talk acknowledging our project joint efforts

On December 20, 2013, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zlatogor Minchev - our project team member and JTSAC director took part at the Operations Research Department annual reporting session, Institute of Mathematics & Informatics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. During the event he gave a talk 'Cybersecurity: the Bulgarian Academic Experience' concerning DFNI T01/4 projects achievements and cooperation with DMU 03/22, SysSec, IFIP TC14, NATO, Bulgarian ICT companies, government and non-government JTSAC partners.


New presentation of our joint efforts at international level

On December 6, 2013, Assoc. Prof. Luben Boyanov (DFNI T01/4 team leader) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zlatogor Minchev gave a joint talk about “Smart Homes Cyberthreats Identification Based on Interactive Training” at ICAICTSEE – 2013. They noted our project joint efforts with DMU 03/22 and EU Network of Excellence in System Security - SysSec, in developing a methodological framework for cyber threats identification, accentuating on the environment of living and communication together with the human factor role. The event has been organized in honour of the fifth anniversary of the faculty of Applied Informatics and Statistics of the University of National and World Economy under the auspices of IFIP at Sofia, Bulgaria.


New presentation of our efforts at international level

On November 27, 2013, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zlatogor Minchev took part as an invited key speaker at the PanEuropa International Conference “Smart Defence, Cybersecurity and Open Doors Policy: The New Euro-Atlantic Security Synergies”. During the first conference panel he gave a talk about “Cybersecurity – Research Experience and Development Perspectives in the Modern Security Environment”, noting DFNI T01/4 joint efforts with DMU 03/22 and EU Network of Excellence Consortium - SysSec in the field of cybersecurity.


New presentation of our efforts at national level

On November 19, 2013 DFNI T01/4 team of young researchers from Institute for ICT, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zlatogor Minchev and PhD student Vladimir Ivanov, together with the managing director of VISENSI Ltd. – Assistant Prof. Stiliyan Georgiev took part at the Conjoint Scientific Seminar ‘Modelling & Control of Information Processes’. During the event they gave talks that will be published in the seminar proceedings about ‘An Evolutionary Prototyping for Smart Home Inhabitants Wearable Biomonitoring’ and ‘Application of Embedded Microcontroller for Light Effects System in Future Smart Homes’ including technological demo. They also noted our project combined efforts with DMU 03/22 and EU Network of Excellence in System Security - SysSec accentuating the importance of human factor monitoring in the context of today's smart homes and the communication via social networks. The event has been hosted by the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and organized in cooperation with the Institute of ICT, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the College of Telecommunications and Post at Sofia city.


    

 


New experiments with wearable biomonitoring equipment

On November 14, 2013, DFNI T01/4 team academic representatives organized joint experiments with our industrial partner VISENSI Ltd. The event was basically related to integration of a new wearable wireless biomonitoring headband for ECG and body temperature in the smart room test bed at the Institute of ICT, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

 

 


New presentation at NATO level referring our project

In the period October 24-26, 2013 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zlatogor Minchev took part at NATO Advanced Training Course “NATO Regional Summer School on Cyber Defence (RSSCD)” where he shared the Bulgarian efforts in the cybersecurity field, noting the DFNI T01/4 focus and collaborative work in his talk. New talk and publication referring our project at IFIP level

In the period 16-18 October, 2013 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zlatogor Minchev took part at the XII International Conference on Entertainment Computing, ICEC 2013. The event has been organized jointly by the IFIP TC 14 and Brazilian Computer Society alongside with SB Games 2013 International Conference at Sao Paolo city, Brazil, Latin America. New publications referring our project work

In the period 3-4 October, 2013, our project team leader - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luben Boyanov took part with two publications: 'Cybersecurity of Smart Homes' and 'Modern Information Technologies at Home' at the National Scientific Conference 'Modern Development of Statistics and Information Technologies'. The event has been organized at University of National and World Economy at Sofia city, Bulgaria.
 


New publication referring our project at EU level

On September 29, 2013, European Network of Excellence in Managing Threats and Vulnerabilities for the Future Internet - SysSec published 'Advanced Report on Smart Environments'. Chapter 8 of the report explicitly marks the joint efforts of DFNI T01/4 and SysSec, toghether with the Bulgarian industry, in the field of multisensor security systems. The study has a significant importance for nowadays smart homes research field progress.
 


New talk acknowledging our project

In the period of August 22-23, 2013 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zlatogor Minchev organized a short training course on “Cyberthreats and Challenges in the Digital Era” where he shared some of our achievements and the successful collaboration with projects: DMU 03/22, TK 02/60, National Science Fund and SysSec, EU FP7. On June 28, 2013 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zlatogor Minchev and Assist. Prof. Vladimir Dimitrov took part at EU Network of Excellence on System Security - SySSec Plenary Meeting at VU University, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. During the event Dr. Minchev gave a joint talk with Assist. Dimitrov about 'Smart Homes Cyber Threats Identification'. The presentation concerned DFNI-T01/4 collaborative work with SysSec EU Network of Excellence, DMU-03/22 and TK-02/60 about social networks cyber threats exploration in future smart homes.

In the period June 10-12, 2013 our project director - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luben Boyanov took part at NATO ARW "Best Practices and Innovative Approaches to Develop Cyber Security and Resiliency Policy Framework" at Ohrid, Macedonia. During the event he presented the joint talk and gave a book chapter with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zlatogor Minchev "Cyber Threats Identification Framework for Future Smart Homes".

First two publications of DFNI T01/4 project

On June 4, 2013, our project partner VISENSI Ltd. presented by the company manager - Mr. Stiliyan Georgiev publicly introduced the first two publications concerning some of our project results: Minchev, Z., Boyanov, L., & Georgiev, S. Security of Future Smart Homes. Cyber-Physical Threats Identification Perspectives and Georgiev, S., Kolev, H., Obreshkov, N., & Lalev, E. Security System for Future Smart Homes. The studies have been demonstraited during the National conference with international participation in realization of the EU project 'Development of Tools Needed to Coordinate Inter-sectorial Power and Transport CIP Activities at a Situation of Multilateral Terrorist Threat. Increase of the Capacity of Key CIP Objects in Bulgaria', at Grand Hotel 'Sofia', Sofia city, Bulgaria.
